Course requirements and grading | Assessment and grading During the semester 12 written assignments must be handled in. From the 12 submitted assignments only the 10 best results will make up the 50% of the final grade. Midterm and final exams are written exams. Both consist of multiple choice-test questions. Midterm exam equals to 20 %, final exam equals 30% of the final grade. (Everyone has to reach at least 48% on the 2 exams (so the sum of the midterm and final exam results must be at least 24 points). ) Those, who got less than 24 points for their homeworks (assignments) or were absent from more than 25% of the classes, have to take a make-up exam and reach 35 points to pass this exam. Grades will be given according to the following pattern: 10 written class and home assignments (including both individual and group assignments): 50% Midterm Exam: 20% Final Exam: 30% Total 100% Grading 0-50% fail (1) 41-62% pass (2) 63-74% satisfactory (3) 75-85% good (4) 86-100% excellent (5) Course policies Class attendance is compulsory. Students with absence over 25% of all the classes automatically have to retake the exam, and cannot achieve better grade than “satisfactory”. In the case of officially justified absence, assignments can be made up. Other missed or late-submitted class-room assignments cannot be made up. Unique problems should be discussed with the course leader, in advance. Course materials will be provided on the e-learning system of the Department of Information Systems (http://coo.uni-corvinus.hu/coospace). Any kind of cheating is not tolerable. |
